Politics To Props

What a weekend! A big thank you to everyone who came down to Exeter for the launch of the Politics in Print exhibition on Friday. The evening was a great success and it was a pleasure to have finally met the other participating artists - it was very interesting to see the different political veins that inspired our printed work from the resources at Devon Record Office which resulted in a well-executed exhibition that documents Devon County's socio-political history. Semper Fidelis was well received and it was good to see visitors engaging with the visual journey through time that was depicted around the cotton square. If you didn't get a chance to make it down to the West Country fret not, since the evening also brought more exhibition venues to add to the tour so more dates and information will follow - you can also continue to access my artist statement of the work here.
I have to say a special thank you to all the team from Double Elephant Print Workshop who have been wonderful to work with from the very beginning of the commission and for hosting the launch exhibition at The XCentre set in the beautiful and historic Quayside, as well as Katherine and John who guided me through the labyrinth that is the Devon Record Office to produce a work that I am very proud of.
As the exhibition leaves Exeter for the moors and beyond, I dashed back from literally one end to the M4 to the other to begin setting up for PROP presented by Departure Gallery at The International Trading Estate in Southall. I have been working all weekend on an installation that will be the largest to date - below is a little preview of what is in store for the show which runs from 13th September - 23rd October and I will be present at the space for the Private View on Friday the 17th September between 6-9.30pm. For further information about Departure Gallery and the free taxi service from Southall Station to the gallery on the night of the Private View click here. More news and updates from my visit to Copenhagen (which now feels like a year ago) coming soon!
